The Cambridge Public Schools (District) is actively seeking experienced, qualified candidates for the two (2) positions of Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education and Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education, effective July 1, 2020. The District has engaged the Collins Center for Public Management at the University of Massachusetts Boston to assist the district with this search process.

The Cambridge Public Schools (CPS) is a PK-12 school district with 7,091 students in twelve elementary schools, 4 middle schools, and one high school. The district has 1340.9 FTE staff, including 676.6 FTE teachers. The CPS student population is 27.9 % economically disadvantaged, 46.7 % high needs, 22.1 % students with disabilities, and 7.5 % English language learners. *

Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education

The Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools and provides senior level leadership and oversight of academic outcomes and the overall educational experiences of students in Cambridge’s 12 Gr. Pre-K -5 elementary schools, which offer a variety of educational programs ranging from dual language immersion in Chinese, Spanish and Portuguese to a public Montessori school. This position also oversees the district’s early childhood programs. Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education

The Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools and provides senior level leadership and oversight of academic outcomes and the overall educational experiences of students in Cambridge’s five Gr. 6-8 Upper Schools, its comprehensive high school Cambridge Rindge and Latin, and the complementary High School Extension Program and the Rindge School of Technical Arts.
