The Masconomet Regional School Committee invites applications from highly qualified, collaborative, and visionary educational leaders for the position of Superintendent of Schools. This individual will serve as the chief executive officer of the district, providing strategic leadership for the educational programs, staff, operations, and resources serving students in grades 7-12 from the communities of Boxford, Middleton, and Topsfield.
The Superintendent must demonstrate unwavering commitment to educational excellence, equity, innovation, and community partnerships while working collaboratively with the Masconomet Regional School Committee, TriTown Union superintendent, state leaders, local leaders from three member towns, staff, families, and community stakeholders to advance the mission and vision of Masconomet Regional School District.
About the District
Located on the North Shore of Massachusetts, Masconomet Regional School District serves as the secondary education hub for the historic New England communities of Boxford, Middleton, and Topsfield.
The district operates:
● Masconomet Regional Middle School (Grades 7-8)
● Masconomet Regional High School (Grades 9-12)

Key Responsibilities
Educational Leadership
● Provide visionary instructional leadership that promotes academic excellence and innovation across all programs and grade levels
● Oversee development and implementation of curriculum aligned with Massachusetts state standards, district goals, and Masconomet’s Portrait of a Learner Competencies
● Ensure continuous improvement of teaching and learning through data-driven decision making
● Foster a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and professional growth
● Champion initiatives that prepare students for success in college, career, and civic engagement
Regional Collaboration and Governance
● Collaborate effectively with the School Committee to develop policies, establish priorities, and ensure transparent governance
● Maintain strong working relationships with the TriTown Union Superintendent, municipal leaders, boards, and departments across all three member towns
● Navigate the unique dynamics of regional governance while honoring the distinct needs and perspectives of Boxford, Middleton, and Topsfield
● Serve as the primary liaison between the district and state and local officials, ensuring effective communication and coordination
Equity and Inclusion
● Promote a safe, inclusive, and equitable school environment that meets the diverse needs of all learners
● Implement policies and practices that eliminate barriers to educational achievement
● Ensure all students have access to rigorous academic programs and comprehensive support services
● Foster cultural responsiveness and celebrate the diversity within our regional community
Operations Management
● Develop and implement annual budgets in collaboration with the School Committee and municipal finance officials
● Oversee all district operations including curriculum, personnel, facilities, technology, and transportation
● Ensure compliance with federal and state education laws, regulations, and mandates
● Manage district resources effectively, collaboratively and transparently
● Plan for and oversee facility improvements and capital projects
Personnel Leadership
● Recruit, hire, evaluate, and support high-quality administrators, teachers, and staff
● Foster professional development opportunities that enhance instructional practices and student outcomes
● Build and maintain positive employee relations across all bargaining units
● Create systems for effective performance evaluation and support for all personnel
Communication and Community Engagement
● Communicate effectively and transparently with all stakeholders including students, families, staff, school committee, and community members
● Build and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations, local businesses, and civic groups
● Serve as the district’s primary spokesperson to media, external organizations, and state and local leaders.
● Engage families and community members as active partners in student success
Safety and Wellness
● Ensure the safety and well-being of all students and staff in schools and at school-sponsored activities
● Implement comprehensive crisis management and emergency response protocols
● Support social-emotional learning and mental health initiatives
● Promote positive school climate and culture that supports student engagement and success
Required Qualifications
● Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Superintendent in Massachusetts
● Master’s degree in education, Educational Leadership, or related field
● Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in education with demonstrated leadership roles
● Proven track record in instructional leadership, strategic planning, and organizational management
● Experience working with school committees/boards and state and local officials
● Strong understanding of school finance, budget development, and resource management
● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and community engagement skills
● Demonstrated commitment to educational equity, diversity, and inclusion
● Knowledge of Massachusetts education law, regulations, and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
● Doctorate in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field
● Experience with capital projects and facilities management
● Background in collective bargaining and labor relations

Contract and Compensation
The Masconomet Regional School Committee offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, commensurate with experience and qualifications. A multi-year contract will be negotiated with the selected candidate.
