EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION
The Education Cooperative (TEC) seeks a dynamic individual to serve as Executive Director of a multi-service, entrepreneurial public school organization that provides services to seventeen member Massachusetts public schools districts. As the Executive Director, you will lead a team of educators who provide an engaging and supportive learning environment for students with complex learning needs in TEC’s three DESE approved public day programs: TEC Campus School, TEC High School and TEC Phoenix Academy. In addition, you will continue TEC’s reputation for innovation and collaboration in areas such as professional development, cooperative purchasing, job-alike opportunities, and student data privacy for the metro-west region. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success as an educational leader and an ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders, including TEC’s educators, staff, students, parents, member-district superintendents, and Board of Directors. Qualified candidates will have strong skills in the areas of budget development, strategic planning, team building, and a commitment to the beliefs and values of TEC.
Founded in 1968, The Education Cooperative (TEC) is a Massachusetts educational collaborative and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization approved by the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and overseen by the Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education. TEC provides an engaging and supportive learning environment for students with complex learning needs. Our talented, experienced and caring educators work as an integrated team to empower students to embrace their dreams and goals, take control of their lives, and be actively involved in their own learning process in order to reach their full potential.
TEC offers three DESE approved public day school programs for students: TEC Campus School, TEC High School and TEC Phoenix Academy. In addition to its education programs for students ages 3-22, TEC provides specialized consultation to member districts, and outstanding professional development programs, state and national cooperative purchasing programs, the TEC Student Data Privacy Alliance, Job-Alike groups, and career and internship programs for students for its metro-west regional learning community.
TEC is a multi-service, entrepreneurial public school partner governed by a Board of Directors representing the Superintendents and School Committees of the seventeen member Massachusetts public school districts: Canton, Dedham, Dover, Dover-Sherborn, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Medfield, Medway, Millis, Natick, Needham, Norwood, Sherborn, Walpole, Wayland, and Westwood, Massachusetts.
Flexible and adaptable, TEC quickly responds to the individual needs of member districts with whom they enjoy trusted, collaborative partnerships. TEC is supported primarily by fee-for-service activities, with an annual operating budget of $10.8 million. TEC has been a leader in innovation and online learning and is the proud sponsor of TECCA, the Commonwealth Virtual School. TEC launched the Student Data Privacy Alliance in 2017 which has grown to protect student data in 5 states: MA, NH, RI, ME and VT.
Administrative offices for TEC are located in a 56,000 square foot facility, which opened in 2014, in East Walpole. The facility houses the TEC Campus School, TEC High School and TECCA on a scenic 8 acre campus overlooking the Neponset River and offers students amenities including a therapeutic indoor pool, accessible playground and walking trails. In addition to the facility in East Walpole, the Phoenix Academy is located at the Plimpton Building on the campus of Walpole High School, 319 Common Street and the TEC Campus School Satellite Classroom is embedded in Westwood High School.
TEC develops and coordinates educational and organizational programs to meet the needs of our member communities and their students in a way that complements and strengthens their school programs and expands opportunities for their students, educators and communities in the most cost-effective manner.

The TEC Board seeks a dynamic individual who has demonstrated success as an educational leader. Successful candidates will hold a minimum of a Master’s degree with an advanced degree preferred, and ten years of successful work experience in education, including at least five years in administration.
The TEC Board is prepared to offer a multi-year contract with a salary and benefits package commensurate with experience. Applications will be accepted until October 21, 2022. The anticipated start date of the Executive Director is negotiable anywhere from December 1, 2022 through July 1, 2022.
