M.A.S.S. Partners with KISS 108’s “CHROMEBOOKS FOR KIDS” TO HELP MASSACHUSETTS SCHOOLS FUND TECHNOLOGY NEEDS

Boston – July 14, 2020 – iHeartMedia Boston’s KISS 108, Boston’s #1 Hit Music Station and the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents announced today the launch of “Chromebooks For Kids” – a fundraising campaign to purchase Chromebooks for local students to use at home and in the classroom.

“Chromebooks For Kids” was announced this morning on the Matty In The Morning show with the help of Boston’s own Michael L. Bivins, and Cassellius, Brenda, Superintendent of the Boston Public Schools Starting today through September 4th, KISS 108 will encourage listeners to text SCHOOLS to 36413 or visit Kiss108.com/Schools to make a donation and support students in the community.

The school year ended much differently than anyone could have anticipated. Teachers and students heavily relied on technology to continue lesson plans as Massachusetts shifted to at-home learning. A recent study conducted by the Department of Education uncovered that over 100,000 students lack access to technology at home to participate in remote learning.

“Our public education system has the responsibility to provide high quality education to each and every one of its students,” said Tom Scott, Executive Director for The Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents. “Unfortunately, during this pandemic, not every child has the benefit of technology. Remote learning will continue to be an important part of every child’s education and every child deserves the technology to be successful.”

“When classroom learning resumes, the need for Chromebooks remains paramount,” said Dylan Sprague, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Boston. “Access to technology is vital for students’ success. KISS 108 and our listeners understand the importance of education as the foundation of future success.”

In August, KISS 108 and the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents will begin the delivery and distribution of the new Chromebooks to students and schools.

Listeners can visit kiss108.com/Schools for more information on the campaign.
