M.A.S.S. Racial Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (REDI)

In October 2020, M.A.S.S. established a Standing Committee on Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) and a Planning Committee to support its work. In May, the Standing Committee unveiled an organization-wide, long-term strategy designed to ensure that every school in Massachusetts learns to model the anti-racist, inclusive practice required for every adult and student to learn and thrive. Endorsed enthusiastically by the Executive Committee, the Strategy calls for work on three simultaneous, mutually reinforcing tracks:

  1. M.A.S.S. Internal Equity Audit and Strategy Refinement
  2. Personal and Collective Reflection and Learning about unconscious bias, systemic racism and effective strategies for anti-racist leadership
  3. M.A.S.S. Guidance and Support for District Leaders to advance racial equity, diversity, and inclusion in their districts
