M.A.S.S. Releases Position Paper on both the MCAS and ACCESS testing – Here’s WHY they need to be suspended for the 2021 school year

|

Over the past few months the Massachusetts Board of Education and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) have insisted that both the MCAS and ACCESS are the only assessments that will measure student learning loss as a result of Covid – 19.  In the below document, M.A.S..S presents our reasons  for requesting that MCAS and ACCESS be suspended for the 2021 school year. We present reasons why this makes sense, and we also present how learning loss can be assessed and used more effectively at the local level.
