The Cape Cod Collaborative Waypoint Public Day School Program Director fulfills the mission of the Cape Cod Collaborative by working with the Executive Director and the Director of Special Education in the management and development of Waypoint Academy.  Cape Cod Collaborative is a regional non-profit educational organization with locations in Osterville and South Yarmouth, MA. Under the guidance of the Cape Cod Collaborative Board of Directors and the supervision of the Executive Director/Director of Special Education, the Program Director provides curriculum and instructional leadership, supervision (development and evaluation of personnel), compliance with Federal and State regulations, and adherence to financial and administrative needs to promote a positive, healthy and safe environment for students and staff.  The Cape Cod Collaborative Public Day Schools provide an extension of the public schools in accordance with the Cape Cod Collaborative Articles of Agreement with our member school districts and the Cape Cod Collaborative Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications:

Valid Massachusetts State Certification in Administration or as a Director by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. DESE License : Superintendent/ Assistant Superintendent, Special Education Administrator, or Principal/Assistant Principal
SEI Endorsement (or obtained within 12 months).
Master’s Degree (or higher) required
Knowledge of Massachusetts State Curriculum Frameworks.
Knowledge and understanding of State and Federal regulations/laws, especially those related to the requirements for a MA Public Day School (e.g. Civil Rights, Special Education, English Language Learners) as outlined by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
At least 3 years of administrative or supervisory experience, or a previously demonstrated leadership position equivalent to the needs of the program.
Effective interpersonal and leadership skills; experience facilitating communication between diverse groups and in group decision-making processes.
Experience evaluating and coaching teachers.
Demonstrated knowledge of typical / atypical child growth and development (physical, social-emotional, cognitive)
Possess knowledge of best practices in instruction, and the ability to provide instructional leadership.
Ability to develop /organize professional development focused on improved instruction and understanding of learning.
Ability to work independently and carry out assigned projects to their completion.
Ability to collaborate with others.
Possess excellent personal relation skills and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrate a knowledge of Social Emotional Learning and Trauma-Sensitive Environments and the impact to both student and staff.
Available to work hours beyond the traditional school day.
Performance of all other job-related duties that contribute to the success of the school and the mission of the Cape Cod Collaborative.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Supervision and implementation of the school’s academic, special education, and therapeutic programs.
Monitor the implementation of the school’s academic, special education and therapeutic programming through the use of effective data collection and progress monitoring.
Development, supervision and evaluation of staff (including interviewing, hiring, orientation, and fostering retention). Ensure that teachers and paraprofessionals are evaluated annually.
Provide formal and informal feedback on observations, lesson plan review, and more.
Facilitate staff meetings to analyze student work, review/debrief student and staff needs, and plan for instruction.
Establish and maintain a positive culture and atmosphere of respect and achievement in the school.
Provide/organize staff professional development and training to meet the requirements of MA Public Day Schools as well as improvement to teaching and learning and the culture of the school environment.
Communicate in a timely and effective manner with students, staff, parents/guardians, district liaisons, and service agencies.
On an ongoing basis, communicate with the Executive Director and Director of Special Education regarding the status and effectiveness of program staff, classroom supports, student status, and make recommendations on all matters relating to the delivery of services to children attending Waypoint Academy.
Communicate regularly with district liaisons regarding student attendance, progress, and quality of service delivery.
Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
Demonstrate and model professionalism in conduct, demeanor and work habits.
Manage staff effectively, holding staff accountable for meeting high standards for student academic, therapeutic, and behavioral performance
Approve all supplies, materials and texts used by school personnel and monitor for bias and effectiveness.
Provide input to the development and management of the fiscal year overall budget and spending plan.
Oversee students’ academic, therapeutic, behavioral program, including disciplinary decisions, scheduling and class decisions, educational program, and assessment and accountability
Comply with the required student discipline laws, including notification to students, parents/guardians, and sending districts.
Ensure compliance to the needs of English Language Learners with applicable laws and regulations (including annual ACCESS testing requirements).
Ensure compliance with  students’ Individual Education Programs (IEPs)., including all required timelines for development, implementation, and progress reporting.Work to create a highly systematic and wide-ranging network of school-level supports and data management systems to identify students who are struggling and ensure strategies and interventions are applied to promote positive growth.
Ensure practices and changes in practices are data driven and research based.
Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
Supervise MCAS testing, including test coordination, data dissemination, and tracking of students’ progress toward earning competency determination.
Collaborate with the CCC Data Specialist to ensure compliance with annual required reporting (e.g. SSDR, Restraint, Educator Evaluation, etc.)
Supervise elements of student transition (e.g. referrals into the Program, students turning age 22, students graduating, students transitioning back to district or other programming).
Collaborate with facility personnel for the safety and health of all (e.g. custodial staff, cafeteria personnel).
Collaborate with transportation staff (CCC and other agencies/districts) for the support of students.
Collaborate with CCC Executive Director, Business Manager and others as needed to facilitate management of the school facility and any/all fiscal responsibilities.
Collaborate with the CCC lead nurse to manage health expectations and regulation
