Job Description
POSITION: Community Education – After School Assistant Instructors
LOCATION: Cunniff, Hosmer, and Lowell Elementary Schools in Watertown, MA
DATES: Minimum of 3 days/week, 2:15-6:00 PM daily, Preference for 5 days/week, 2:15-6:00 PM. Additional hours on district elementary early release days, 12:00-6:00 PM
PAY RATE: $14.72 per hour – $18.11 per hour based on relevant, job-alike experience

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Lead Instructor to plan, organize and implement all Extended Day program components
  • Active interaction with children
  • Supervise students during outside play, snack, gym, homework, and other program activities
  • Works with the lead teacher and program site coordinator to provide clear, age-appropriate expectations for children to ensure they have a safe and enjoyable experience during the program
  • Implements positive behavior management techniques designed to help children learn conflict resolution skills
  • Maintains proper use and daily upkeep of program spaces and all materials/ equipment belonging to the program and/or the school day teachers
  • Assists Lead Instructor in maintaining daily attendance log of all students
  • Implements safety policies and procedures
  • Attends monthly site-specific staff meetings including grade-alike meetings with other staff members as called for by the Site Coordinator
  • Attends Watertown Community Education team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as assigned by the Site Coordinator and/or Director of Community Education
  • Program-related tasks as needed per the discretion of the Site Coordinator, Director, or Assistant Director

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS or coursework towards BA/BS preferred but not required
  • At least one year of experience working with children preferred

Salary: $14.72 to $18.11 Per Hour

Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
