M.A.S.S. Child Separation Statement

|

As the Chief Child Advocates across the Commonwealth, the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents (MASS) fiercely condemns the current policy of separating families attempting to enter our country.  With the social-emotional and academic growth of children at the core of what we do, we cannot remain silent. This stance is not partisan or political. Our daily work is to advocate for what is best for children.  These decisions can be unpopular. True leadership does not burden children with adult-created problems. This new policy is wrong and short-sighted. The lasting impact will be felt in the long-term development of these children and the implications for increased services in school districts for decades.
