At the M.A.S.S. Spring Meeting on May 22, the Executive Committee for the association began their term for the year ahead, installing officers and two new members.

The new President of M.A.S.S. is Karen Crebase, who is completing her ninth year as Superintendent of Hopedale Public Schools. Karen previously worked as Assistant Superintendent in Nashua, NH, where she also served as a school principal. She began her career working at elementary schools in Houston, TX and Los Angeles, CA.

At the meeting, Karen acknowledged the work of Armand Pires, who served as M.A.S.S. President during the 2024-2025 school year. She commended his dedication to improving the educator pipeline, providing additional support for Superintendents through the implementation of the M.A.S.S strategic plan, and diligently advocating for Superintendents and school districts at the state level.

In her remarks, Karen commented on the increasing complexity of school district leadership, noting that “with each passing year, communities rely more heavily on schools for things that historically weren’t related to education.”

She also highlighted the dedication and commitment of Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents, despite these challenges. After sharing some of the districts’ incredible accomplishments, Karen said, “None of these improvements or changes happen by chance. These changes happen because of your leadership.”
