Today, M.A.S.S. hosted a full-day session, “A Good Start for New Superintendents.”
Twenty-five leaders who have been hired for their first Superintendent position gathered in Marlborough to learn key strategies related to effective working relationships, communication, legal issues, finance, and other critical topics, as well as the additional training and support opportunities available through M.A.S.S.

🏆 M.A.S.S. recently presented the 2026 Distinguished Service Award to organizations that founded and manage the statewide “Addressing Hate in School & Sport” initiative:
- Office of Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)
- Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA)
- Massachusetts School Administrators Association (MSAA)
- Northeastern University Center for the Study of Sport in Society
🏈 The initiative has helped districts respond thoughtfully and proactively to incidents of hate and bias while fostering healthier, more inclusive school and athletic cultures. Since 2021, students and adults from 160 school districts have participated in local and regional training programs across the Commonwealth.
