TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Non-union, Twelve-month Position

SUMMARY:
-Collaborates as part of the Central Office Leadership Team who manage the school district and support implementation of the District’s Strategic Plan and School Improvement Plans.
-Leads the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and coordinates educational and instructional programs and initiatives that determine and maintain the District’s superior academic achievement and standardized test performance
-Represents the Superintendent in communications with parents/guardians, Town and State Officials, and school community stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Master’s degree in Educational Administration or related field
-CAGS or Doctorate in area of competence preferred
-Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) license as Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent
-Demonstrated record of accomplishment in leadership and administration in a public or independent school environment
-Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
-Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in curriculum and instruction
-Knowledge of current trends in standards, curriculum development, instructional practices, assessment, educational technology and related staff development
-Knowledge of educator licensure and DESE requirements
-Competence in compliance with DESE, State and Federal laws and regulations regarding students, school and district accountability
-Effective conflict resolution skills
PREFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following):
-Partner with the Superintendent in the formulation of policy and decision-making regarding system-wide planning, finance and budget, teaching and learning initiatives, long-range plans, district goals and labor/employee relations issues
-Assist the Superintendent in establishing and maintaining partnerships with the community
-Provide guidance and direction to school Principals and Coordinators in a broad range of areas including but not limited to day-to-day operations, professional development, evaluation, discipline, parent/guardian communications, scheduling and course offerings
-Responsible for the recruitment, hiring and retention of highly qualified, diverse staff in all program areas including substitute teachers
-Provide ongoing support to district administrators regarding personnel
-Serve as the District Title IX Coordinator and work collaboratively with the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging to respond to inquiries regarding non-discrimination policies
-Attend School Committee meetings, prepare reports and keep the Committee informed of major developments in school programs
-Serve on the Administrative Team that assists the School Committee in preparing for and conducting Collective Bargaining with the Milton Educators Association and the local chapter of AFSCME.
-Coordinate and monitor supervision and evaluation of all teachers according to the DESE Model System for Educator Evaluation
-Lead the District in curriculum development and instructional improvement towards closing the Achievement Gap
-Direct curriculum review, evaluation and revision and coordinate alignment between elementary and secondary levels
-Work collaboratively with District Leadership and the Director of Data Analytics to analyze and manage student assessment data to evaluate student performance and effectiveness of the curriculum, instruction and programs
-Work collaboratively with Curriculum Directors and Department Heads to conduct research in current and best practices in content areas and educational technology
-Oversee all aspects of Professional Development in collaboration with Principals and Curriculum Coordinators and the Professional Development Committee; prioritize district needs, disseminate information, identify presenters and evaluate effectiveness
-Work with teacher leaders to coordinate and implement induction and mentoring programs
-Collaborate with EL Coordinator to identify program needs and ensure implementation
-Lead collaborative meetings with Principals, Coordinators, and new Administrators
-Collaborate with the Director of Student Services to ensure that appropriate instruction and services are provided for students with disabilities
-Prepare reports for DESE Coordinated Program Reviews
-Responsible for entitlement grants
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
-Review of applications will begin after January 2, 2025. The expected start date for the new Superintendent is July 1, 2025.
