The Superintendent-Director of Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School in Charlton, MA invites highly qualified candidates to apply for the position of School Business Manager.

 

Opening in 1972 on top of Muggett Hill, Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School serves approximately 1,200 Grade 9-12 students from its member Worcester County communities of Auburn, Charlton, Dudley, North Brookfield, Oxford, Paxton, Rutland, Spencer, Southbridge, and Webster. The school’s programs are also available to pupils outside these areas on a tuition basis. Bay Path is located 60 miles southwest of Boston, 10 miles south of Worcester, and 40 miles east of Springfield.

 

Bay Path has been a visible part of the surrounding community by providing services to nonprofit organizations and municipalities, offering a diverse course selection in 22 career areas that address both academic and career goals. Many Bay Path students directly enter the workforce in local companies, while others choose to pursue higher education in their chosen fields at advanced technical institutes, attend two- or four-year colleges/universities, or serve in one of America’s elite military branches. They leave with industry recognized credentials, dual enrollment/articulation credits, or scholarships for their performance in the classrooms, shops, and or on the athletic fields. Bay Path’s efforts are not just limited to secondary education, as post-secondary opportunities are available as well. The nationally recognized Bay Path Practical Nursing Academy educates adults to become licensed practical nurses. The School Business Manager is responsible for planning, developing and coordinating fiscal, business, and operating services required to provide school personnel with facilities, materials, and other resources needed to support vocational and academic instruction of students.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

·        Assist the Superintendent-Director in the development, preparation, presentation, and approval of the annual budget

·        Manage, supervise and evaluate the Business Office staff

·        Establish and maintain adequate systems to control the approved budget

·        Provide the Superintendent-Director and other Administrators with appropriate financial data

·        Responsible for the preparation of school financial reporting activities

·        Be designated as the Chief Procurement Officer under the provisions of MGL Chapter 30B and comply with the law and all regulations

·        Be responsible for the certification of all accounts payable and prompt payment; supervise the deposit of funds into correct accounts and supervise the billing and collection of accounts receivable

·        Manage all district funds to include, but not limited to, the general fund, grants, activity accounts, revolving funds, trust funds, reserve funds, capital project funds

·        Supervise the expenditures and record keeping for federal, state, and private grants

·        Administer, through the appropriate district coordinators, the contracted transportation program, the In-House Transportation program, the Food Service Program, all data processing services and equipment, and the care and maintenance of school grounds, facilities, and equipment

·        Develop and administer the insurance programs and procure bonds for staff

·        Maintain equipment inventory and serve as equipment coordinator; administer equipment depreciation schedules

·        Maintain and supervise service contracts

·        Develop and maintain supply inventories

·        Administer building security systems

·        Recommend to the Superintendent-Director alterations and changes to the physical plant and grounds and provide budget estimates

·        Supervise construction and renovation projects

·        Administer the rental of the plant and grounds, and the acquisition, use and maintenance of school vehicles

·        Supervise the acquisition of state or federal surplus property

·        Perform all other duties assigned by the Superintendent-Director

 

Desired Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s Degree and Massachusetts DESE School Business Manager License or a Master’s Degree

·        Minimum of six years’ hands-on relevant experience in Business Management related to the duties listed above

 

Individuals with experience in municipal accounting are encouraged to apply as this position serves as the accountant of the region. This is a full-year position with a competitive salary (in the range of $120,000 to $150,000) and benefits package, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
